Originally from Vittoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil, Fabio started his Jiujitsu career after his friend convinced him to come to his academy with him. At that time closed, open, butterfly, and spider guard were the only techniques really being taught at that time and was truly old school and the base of how the sport grew to what it is today.
From the beginning of his career, Fabio was training in and out of the sport since he started in 1996. Competing mostly as a blue belt in Brazil at Copa Sudeste in Sao Paolo. and winning the tournament as a white and blue belt. In 2012 Fabio received his purple belt under his professor at Nova Uniao in Espirito Santo under Kandango.
In 2014 Fabio Fabio emailed Jose from Brazil mentioning he would be heading to Queenstown, two days after he arrived he has been training ever since. By 2016 Fabio received his brown belt under Jose Gomes, and in 2019 Fabio was honoured to receive his Black belt.
Fabio now coaches a variety of classes from the fundamental classes, beginners, advanced, women’s and kid’s classes too.
Fun Fact: Fabio received his blue belt three times in his career 2001, 2008, and 2011 if you ask him he’ll say “it’s a long story…”
